Old Town Trolley

The next day, we went on a trolley tour of San Diego. We learned a lot about the city from our two great tour guides all while sitting on our tushes! Score!

We got off the trolley once in Balboa Park. Abby took Sam around at her own pace while we looked in an art museum and a house of flowers (I can't remember the technical name for it.)

San Diego Zoo

We took a trip to the famous San Diego Zoo. Now, I thought it was just lovely, but really, a zoo is a zoo in my opinion.

Philip and I, never serious!

This was probably the coolest part of the zoo. We were so close to the elephants.

We tamed this Saber-Tooth Tiger

If you know me, you know I was super excited that they had, not one, but two kinds of camels!

Abby had a serious meltdown in the middle of the day. She was tired (since she had woken up in the night to puke). We went home, had some lunch, took a nap and returned.

Abby can only sit in her stroller so long. We learned that keeping it folder was a smarter approach because then she didn't want to (very slowly) push it around the zoo.

By far, Abby's favorite part of the zoo... eating an Icee! She was a mess, but she was content riding in her stroller for quite some time, so we were happy.

Aren't we just a darling pair of sister-in-laws!?!

When all was said and done, it was a slightly stressful (ok maybe a lot stressful) but really fun day at the zoo.

Maybe tomorrow...

I was planning to post some more wonderful pictures of our trip to San Diego.

I was planning on catching up on this whole blogging thing.

But, I just don't feel like it right now.

The Start of Our Week in San Diego

After two weeks in Arizona, we packed our bags and loaded up the car to drive with my parents to San Diego (where we met Philip, Merrick and their little dude). We woke up the morning of our drive to a little girl covered in puke. Sad! She went on to throw up another time in San Diego, poor thing. Grammy and Grampy's Pack-and-Play is officially broken in!

As soon as we arrived, Abby took Grammy outside to play in the sand.

We spent the weekend relaxing around the house and eating yummy food.

Abby loved to sit or lay down on the baby's blanket. She was always very concerned about him. When he was sleeping, she would shush anyone walking in his general direction.

Abby loved playing on the balcony. She would rearrange the chair incessantly and she would get any willing body to go outside to do bubbles with her.

Aunt Merrick painted Abby's toes and she was thrilled about it. She still points out the remaining polish and tells me, "pretty."

A special thanks to Merrick for taking lots of pictures because I was horrible at it! More to come...

Arizona: Week 2

Our second week was pretty much the same as the first: swim, eat, play kitchen, play blocks, go to the sandbox, drive the car...

We decided to drive down to Marana (just outside of Tucson) to visit Sam's brother and family. We stayed up late talking and playing games and now we are even more excited for our reunion with ALL of the Petersons in August.

Abby loved playing with her cousins, especially Ella. Ella is Abby's closest-in-age, girl cousin. (Dang those Peterson boys and their affinity for making boy babies.)

Abby especially loved playing with all of Ella's fun toys!

Abby really wanted to go down this slide by herself, but it was a super fast one.

This is the handsome Liam! He is such a fun little boy!

Ella is gorgeous, isn't she!?! She is such a sweetheart!

Owen is a busy, fun little boy. We just love to play with him.

I feel like these pictures are good expressions of their personalities!

Our two weeks in Arizona flew by, and we are now enjoying ourselves in San Diego. Stay tuned! :)

Arizona: Week One

We started our two-month summer vacation by visiting my parents in Arizona.

Abby fell asleep pretty soon after we took off, which was a surprise. After she woke up, she was a busy bee crawling back and forth on our laps. She was a good girl!

Pretty soon after we got there, we headed out to the pool for Abby to try out her new swimming suit and toys from grammy and grampy.

It is wonderful to be able to head out to the pool whenever we want and Abby wants to all the time!

Abby relaxing on the hammock.

Abby is grampy's little buddy.

Grammy took Friday off and made it a four-day weekend.

Abby loves driving this car and playing in the sandbox out back.

We are having a blast relaxing, especially me. It's nice to have all of the extra hands to help entertain Abby. I don't know what we're going to do with ourselves when we get back to Philly.

Eclipse

My sweet hubby accompanied me to the midnight showing of Eclipse. It was a WAY different experience here in Arizona than it was seeing New Moon in Philadelphia. There were so many SUPER young kids (like 8 year olds!) Plus, it was kind of a crazy free-for-all with the seating in the theaters. We ended up getting fairly good seats after waiting in a line outside. We didn't think we were going to be able to stay awake, but thanks to Riesens and Sour Patch Kids we made it. We enjoyed the movie and the chance for a fun date night.

Me and my blinker!

Another Beach Day...

Before heading out for our two-month long vacation, we wanted to make a trip to Ocean City. This time, daddy was able to join us. We packed our lunch, met some friends and went to play. It was REALLY hot outside so the water felt WONDERFUL. You couldn't even really play in the sand if you were too far away from the water because it would burn your feet off.

When we got to the boardwalk, I started getting out our suits so we could change in the bathrooms. A bathroom attendant on a power trip told us "No changing in the bathroom." Well, we were feeling rebellious and decided to try anyway, but the guy followed Sam in and stood outside of his stall. Obnoxious! After walking to the car and back to change, I thought I might die from heat stroke/dehydration.

Abby loved playing in the sand and in the waves. She is such a beach baby and I love it!

Unfortunately (or maybe fortunately, if you don't want to see me in a bathing suit), I didn't make it into any of the pictures.

On the way home, we got hit with a major thunderstorm. The wind and pouring rain was so loud that it woke Abby up from her nap.
