It's 5:47...

A.M. and I can't sleep. I woke up needing to (ahem) use the bathroom. I fought and fought and tried to go back to sleep. I, of course, lost the fight. So, here I sit (in a chair not on the potty.) Lucky for me, I am at by parent's house. So later, when the tiredness hits me, I will tell Sam or my dad to watch Abby and I will skip (yeah, skip) happily upstairs to lay down. Oh, how I am going to love TWO MONTHS of summer vacation.

Huggies Model

Because I knew we would be heading to the pool several days last week, Abby spent the mornings in her diaper. (What's the point in getting her dressed if I'm just going to take the clothes right off, right?)

She spent one morning walking around in a pair of my shoes:

Another morning, she decided she needed to wear socks, tennis shoes... and a headband.

Later in the morning she decided to add a shirt to the ensemble, but pants didn't make it into the mix until late afternoon.

Summertime Girls

We spent just about every day at the pool last week, which was wonderful. We had fun relaxing in the sunshine while the girls climbed in and out (and in and out) of the pool. Stacey and I even had a day that both of our husbands were home during nap time, so we were able to lay out in the sunshine without the girlies in tow. Glorious! Unfortunately, I'm suffering from some itchy sunburns as a result, but it was totally worth it.

These girls have so much fun together! I don't know what Abby is going to do for two months without Brooklyn and I don't even want to think about what will happen a year from now. Sad!

Update

So, remember the other day, when I was having technical difficulties while uploading my pictures? Well, when Sam returned home that night I whined to him about my frustrations and told him about all of the things I tried to get it to work. He sat down, plugged in the camera and they opened right up, of course!

Here's one of the cute ones that came from my struggles. Man, I love that girl!

Best Buddies

Abby and Brooklyn (or Brookie if you're asking Abby) are best buddies. Brooklyn was born about two weeks before Abby, which may come as a surprise to some because Brooklyn is probably three inches taller.

These cute girls love to play together. It's so fun to watch them interact, as most kids their age tend toward parallel play rather than co-play (look at me sounding like I know stuff).

They are such girls. They play with their babies, put on shoes and dress up. And, true to girl form, they get in little fights.

It was hard for me to get a good picture of them because they can't stop looking at each other most of the time!

They are such a cute pair! And, lucky for me, Brooklyn's mom is one of my favorite friends too!

Another day...

So, I was going to write a wonderful post with pictures and humor, just as I promised you I would when I created this Blog. Unfortunately, the computer is telling me that it doesn't recognize my camera. I held back from throwing the cord/camera/computer across the room in hopes that Sam-the-magic-fixer can fix it when he gets home.

On a more positive note...two weeks from today we will begin our two-month long family extravaganza out west. We will be in Arizona, California and Utah. We are SO excited to play and eat and relax. This will be our last real summer break until, well, forever so we plan to make the most of it.

Keep your fingers crossed that technology decides to be my friend so that I can give you a more entertaining post next time!

Apology

I must apologize. I have been a terrible blogger. I've kind of been a Debbie Downer lately (so fitting, right?) And, though I'm not against sharing my emotions, even the bad ones, I don't want to be one of those moms that is always complaining about her life as a mother because, frankly, those women drive me nuts.

Teething baby aside, I think the main reason for my grumpiness involves my love/hate relationship with food and the strict diet I'm on. Hopefully I'll cheer up and start blogging more in a few days when the two-week Special K challenge comes to an end and I return to a more varied meal plan. Until then, I'll continue taking my anger out on the protein bars rather than subjecting you to my negativity.

But, just to hold you over until then, I'll share this adorable picture my friend took of Abby.
